hero trades misdemeanor for felony

SOUTH BEND — A South Bend man was arrested Tuesday after he stabbed a teenage boy he caught spray-painting graffiti on a neighbor’s garage, police said.

Related ContentStabbing follows west-side garage graffiti report
About 2:05 a.m., South Bend police responded to an alley near the corner of Huron and South Carlisle streets for a report of vandalism in progress.

There, a 31-year-old man told them two suspects in the vandalism had just fled down the alley and between two houses. He also said one of the suspects had been stabbed.

When the officer asked who stabbed the suspect, the man said he had and displayed a knife, police said.

Meanwhile, another officer radioed that he had the two suspects in custody, and that one of them, an 18-year-old South Bend man, had multiple stab wounds to the back.

Police then arrested the 31-year-old man on suspicion of aggravated assault.

During questioning, the man admitted again to stabbing the 18-year-old, but said it was in self-defense.

According to police, a heated argument broke out between the man and the two vandalism suspects after he witnessed them spray-painting graffiti on a garage in the alley for a second time early Tuesday.

During the argument, police said, the 18-year-old reportedly pushed the man multiple times.

When the man displayed a knife, police said, the 18-year-old asked jokingly what he was going to do with it and then made a fist as if to hit him.

Police said that’s when the man came down with the knife, stabbing the 18-year-old in the upper back several times.

The teenager was taken to an area hospital for treatment of his wounds, which were reportedly not life-threatening.

PASO CHECKIN IN FROM PUERTO RICO

So I called up the lil homies I got out here to go do some spots, they wanna do a warehouse thats for sale off one of the highways, called the 3. So we meet up smoke 2 blunts, bullshit for a min wait for the new Jacka Bootleg i copped of the net, highly recommended by the way.. and we start mobbin... get to the spot, tryin to figure out where to park, cuase its next to a bank. And the police patrol all the banks on they're routes or some such shit out here, cuase of all the robberies, we decide fuck it I think it will be cool like right in front of the spot, but maybe back off the street alittle, so i pulled in circle the bank scopin for security guards, none to be seen, whip it out, flip a bitch, jump out gather the paint, we decided on doin big crew shots, TKO * DWA, i had previous sketched the letters, and we all agreed that shit looked chunky so I jump in the spot coverin my face becuase the bank next door has cameras all over the lot. We get too it, i start sketching out the letters, the homies start fillin in.. I just got done with the "TKO" and my spidey sense started tingling, I turned around and of course, the boys are there shining the spot light at the whip, a rental i had. So we duck and cover, hit the deck post up, theres alot of bushes and vines and bullshit all over growing the end of the lot in front of the warehouse were painting, the warehouse surrounded by thick ass woods in the back. and wrought iron 9 foot fence in the front and block walls separating the warehouse from the building next door.. the boys park the cruiser, get out and start walkin around the car, and into the banks lot, the bank and the warehouse arent separated by a fence just a open lot about 30 yards from pavement to wall. with a couple of trees and shit, from my hiding spot behind a lattice of vines i can see these fuckin pricks walkin around conversatin and what not.. Im thinkin we are cool cause A, they didnt see us just the car. B, we are deep in the cuts of this lot. C. they think somethings happening at the bank.
So we post.. then a cop car blazer pulls up, and still the dont trip off the huge letters going up not 50 yrds away.. still lookin all around the bank. But this is a different country, corruption runs rampant, the boys in the cruiser walk back to their car, converse with the fools in the blazer, look in the car some more, and disapear from my view for a few minutes, then I hear a loud pop followed by air escaping, my first instinct is these rotten fucks are popping my tires, then 2 more pops and air wooshing, Im thinkin NO FUCKIN WAY IS THIS HAPPENING!!!! we are fucking screwed!! these pricks are gonna post up at the car and wait for its owner to come back... Im sweatin bullets now, I can see the homies to my left and right just a few feet from my position. Im like yo, what the fuck do we do i whisper, they are like just chill they gonna leave.. finally after a few more rounds around the bank they finally dip down the frontage road. We stay posted up till we can see them gettin on the Highway. We creep out. start to paint again, cuase im like yo, were gonna be here awhile anyways why not handle it. So we start painting.. a few minutes go by,.... BAM boys again this time we stash the paint dip over the wall to the adjacent lot, and too the back of it chillin behind some dumpsters, theres a old leaning against the building and Im like hey climb that shit and get an idea of whats up. By the time homie gets up there. boys left again.. I tell em yo stay there and keep an eye out.. by this time the fills almost all done, and starting to outline.. the highways on thursday in the little town were in are known for street racing, so shits going off behind us while were painting.. im talkin hundreds of street mod cars doin burn outs, fuckin lawnmower mufflers and shit gettin stupid fast.. shit was wild to watch, we finish.. but not before the boys come back 2 more times we hide more.. prolly been here for 3 hours now.. we pop out, run to the car.. sho nuff these crooked fucks popped my tires.. 3 of em/ and tried to stuff a brick under the one they didnt slash. Im like WHOA.. then light bulbs on my head say, dude call the rental company roadside assistance.. call em. full coverage pays son! now they on the way with a new car and tow truck for the flat one. its gonna take like 2 hours at least.. im like alright stash all the paint, and we'll post at the car. Im like we need a story kids, cuase these fools are gonna trip when they see us standin around the car. So came up with a duzy baby, we ran out of gas, went the gas station for a can and some gas, came back 3 tires slashed.. walked back the station to return the can, and call the tow truck. shure enough soon as were done hiding all the paint in our bags, the boys come back theyre acting like what, I dont speak spanish for shit so im like yo homie kick knowledge to these fuckin pigs, and we tell em the story, my boys like yo just speak english real fast and act hella mad... which wasnt hard cuase i was pissed. the come trip out on us for awhile ask to search the car, keep us there bombarding dude with questions we tryin to corroborate our shit, they kinda trip that they didnt see us at the gas station or on the street, but we havent done anything wrong yet. i realize these are the same two cars of crooked ass cops that were there out walking around earlier, i can tell by their silouettes, they are kinda laughing and tryin to get us to snitch on our selves for like an hour, but finally they took off. the tow truck shows up right as another jake comes and yanks us out of the car at AK47 point. tryin to get us on the ground, askin whats going on, luckily one homie chimed in and explained, our ridiculous lie, the tow truck comes, the second cruiser dips. the tow truck takes one look and says, did the cops do this? HAHAHA we all started luaghing, as hes taking the new car down. we didnt say anything.. I signed the papers, dude snatched up the busted whip.. we hit the freeway, and dipped...

GOOD GRIEF

this kid kills period ....

1.state ya name gangsta...

Grief

2.what crews repped

DVR, MFG, FR.

3.1st graffiti experience

Damn i wish i could remember my first graff experience. haha well i remember my early stages when i was in high school and used to sneak out of my parents house past curfew to do some of my first fill ins around the city.I would ditch school and take the bus to rack supplies, rack paint because i wasnt old enough to buy it and catch scribe tags on the bus. FYI i always carry a scriber. It is my favorite tool of choice.I ditched more school than i attended. At night i would sneak out and i remember pretending i was in france during world war 2 and i would tell myself that cops and taxi cabs are like german snipers and i have to avoid them and not get seen by them and i would walk to spots to paint doing tags and every time a car drove by i would jump and hide like some sort of soldier ninja, haha those where the days, man i did a lot of graff in those years, most of it sucked.Painting in the snow was always my favorite. haha

4.what compelled you to do so

Well i grew up in Los Angeles during the construction of the subway and i remember seeing graff everywhere especially around the subway and bus stations and i DID NOT like it, i was like what is this garbage??? but i came to reno a few years later and i experienced culture shock and that is when graff came to me and i started doing it, i had always been attracted to art and skateboarding, graff was just there. I was anti social in school and i always felt like i needed to do something different to separate myself from the usual kids at school. One day i had a bad injury skateboarding that required me to stay off my feet so i started doing letters and doing pieces on paper then i ventured into the train yard. I would ditch class to paint trains during the day, my high school mascot was the railroaders haha how ironic is that?

5.current state of graffiti ?your opinion???

i think it is getting harder to do it illegal and it is a shame because that is the purest form of graffiti when it is raw, loud, ruthless,no permission, ugly, crunchy, ghetto, grimey, drippy and has that in your face attitude that says "hey! i was here, fuck you!" and i think it is important for graffiti to always have that in its essence. It seems like graff is branching out to different types of art medias and that is good to see but i really would hate to see it become corporate. Graffiti has always been the weapon of choice for the few people in our society to use to fight back at the people and corporations who truly deface our vision and minds with advertising and brainwashing bullshit and make us feel like we are just statistics and numbers in society. Now that most corporations figured out that they can use this art form to their advantage they want to exploit it so that is why it is important to keep it real, original, and in the streets.

6.your favorite city to paint

I would have to say San francisco is my favorite city to paint due to its compact streets and city structure and convenient transit. There is no place like it. The city I'm primarily based from is a 24 hour nightlife devils playground. In the city of Reno Nevada it is hard to paint city spots which left me the option of painting freight trains instead, but the city is underated and i have painted city spots and so have others that were never flicked or posted on the internet but Reno has had its grace of presence with a few good writers that have painted some good graffiti. In 2005 i went on a mission to paint several pieces, tags and bombs on a "hot" street called 4th and it is swarming with cops and bad news 24/7 but i did it for my own personal satisfaction and the fact of overcoming a challenge and in the end i think i did a good job and crushed most of the down town reno area and 4th street but most of the work i did back then i never flicked so it is lost graffiti and i had some good pieces running that i regret not flicking and now they are all buffed but I'm sure the police department has pictures of the damage i saw some of them and i ended up going to jail and got in a huge mess in court but that is another long story. After the 2005 hot spot binge i wanted to continue focusing on painting trains for the next following years or traveling to other cities.

7.what would u like to accomplish before you are done

well i never want to get to the point where i would have to admit being close to done ,i just want to keep doing what i do and progressing with my style and doing it repetitively and travel to other cities and get my name around and meet other writers and paint.

8.what is graffiti to you??

Graffiti to me is being able to do what ever i want. Life is what you make it.

9.who were your influences coming up???

I had a lot of influences. close friends and local cats in reno were some of the best to me.adjust, Chino,Mores, WBL Crew, TME crew, ITS crew,Ha crew, Ayer Lts, Mber, HM CREW, Sace Irak, Sag Ta, Setup, Rime, Grey, Kaper, Kaput, Sien 5, hobo monikers, WCB crew, Kahn, A2m Crew, Ikso, Emit,East att, chisme, Heat, Klean Lts, Pysa Lts, kuk, Abhor, Steel msk, Twist,Amaze, Trav, Skuf, Earsnot, Tie, Espo, Revs, west coast graffiti, Seen, etc....

10. if you had any advice for a new jack coming up what would it be

Yeah just keep doing it and doing it, and somewhere along the road sell your soul to the devil.

11.weve heard you recently had a pretty big art show what do u think about more and more bombers chasin that art money?

well i think its cool, even graffiti writers have to eat. But i think most writers should definitely put in work and get some clout before they consider doing a art show. As for myself i was tired of doing obscure graffiti in this city and i wanted to come out to reveal my work and i really felt like i had something to show people and I'm not sure i'll get pay for it but i really spent a lot of time preparing the pieces. People are rarely exposed to graffiti in this city so i wanted the chance to bring something new to the table. I usually try to keep art and graffiti in separate categories but i wanted to bring the two together and i got a result and it is what it is. Most of the works were collages of pictures I've saved in last few years that i thought had some importance to me so its very abstract and random but i think people were interested in what they were looking at and the expression of their faces was priceless. But a important element to me has always been being elusive and secretive with my work so i really was hesitating on doing this and felt like i was selling out but i guess it felt like it was time to move on and try a different approach. Im getting older and i really cant run from cops anymore due to skateboarding injuries so... word.

12.paint rack or buy???

all of the above, you never can have too much paint. any and by all means necessary.

13.trains walls or streets

first streets, then walls, finally trains. i think there must be a guideline for writers to follow those procedures in order and accordingly. i hate seeing garbage on trains. Practice on the streets first then hit up the walls to get some style then you can come to the yards when you can come correct.

14.what does dvr stand for

Doing Vandalism Right!!!

15 any fuck yous or big ups?????
death to those who oppose, ignorance is a weapon of its own destruction. Mad Love to my family friends and crew, you know who you are.

Mama mia! A saucy Papa John’s deliveryman sliced up a Brooklyn Heights elevator like it was a piping hot pie, but little did he know that a security camera recorded every last scratch.

And now the owner of the Livingston Street building is biting back, suing the franchise for $3,200 — the cost, he says, of removing the “Dizzy CFM” tag that the ditzy doughboy scratched into the car’s wood paneling.

“We were shocked,” said Michael Cantor, the landlord of 59 Livingston St., the defaced rental building

between Court and Clinton streets.

“I spoke to the [franchise] owner and he said, ‘It couldn’t have been one of my drivers,’ ” recounted Cantor. “I asked him to watch the video and he refused. [Read More]

its a family affair

(Merced, CA) — Keeping things in the family is one thing but a California father and son have been arrested for allegedly spray painting graffiti on a building.

Authorities in Merced say they were tipped off by a concerned citizen who saw a 32-year-old teaching his 13-year-old son how to paint graffiti. Officers arrived on the scene but Felipe Ramos and his son took off. The two were arrested a short time later at their home not far away. Ramos is already on felony probation and is now facing felony graffiti and contributing to the delinquency of a minor charges. His son is also looking at graffiti charges.
